She is most famous for her role in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air's sitcom Ashley Banks. She began singing when she was 4. Her mother encouraged her to bring her to an audition with Sesame Street. She started her career as a regular performer in 1985 as a 6 year young girl on Sesame Street, a PBS children's show. She appeared in a variety of Broadway shows that were staged in New York City, including Fences (with James Earl Jones and later Billy Dee Williams) and Orfeo del Campo (off-Broadway). She won Star Search twice when she was seven years old. Her second appearance earned her four stars.
