Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY, born on 17 March 1998), known professionally as Grimes is a Canadian musician, singer, and record producer. Initial work is described as "lo-fi R&B to futuristic dance-pop",[4that draws inspiration from hip-hop and electronic music, as well as rock. A lot of her songs focus on sci-fi themes and feminist topics. Five studio albums have been made available by the group. Born and raised in Vancouver (later shifting into Montreal), Grimes began releasing music independently at the end of the 2000s she released two albums: Geidi Primes and Halfaxa which were released in 2010, on Arbutus Records. The following year, she was signed to 4AD and rose to prominence when she released her third studio album Visions which came out in the year 2012. Visions features the singles "Genesis" as well as "Oblivion" and won the Canadian industry's Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year. In the years following, her album on her 4th studio effort, Art Angels, was released in 2015 and received high praise from critics as several publications named it the best album of 2015. Miss Anthropocene was her fifth studio album. Aside from music, Grimes had a voice part in the gaming action Cyberpunk 2077 and is a judge on the music competition game program Alter Ego.
